Memorial Day 2024 – Honored to Have Spent It With Oak Grove, Kentucky

As we head towards the end of May, we’re looking back on this previous Memorial Day Weekend in Oak Grove, Kentucky with an awesome show for veterans, all those who serve and their families. It was a truly inspiring event that we are proud to have been a part of.

Said Jackie Oliver, the Mayor of Oak Grove, “On behalf of the City of Oak Grove, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for your outstanding performance at our Spring into Summer event held at Valor Hall on May 25, 2024. Your presence and talent brought an unparalleled level of excitement and joy to our community, making the event truly memorable for all attendees. Your music has touched the lives of many, and seeing you perform live in Oak Grove was an extraordinary experience for our residents and visitors alike. The energy and enthusiasm you brought to the stage were contagious, and your performance left a lasting impression on everyone present. We are incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to host an artist of your caliber, and we appreciate your willingness to be a part of our celebration. Your music not only entertained but also inspired and uplifted our community, creating wonderful memories that will be cherished for years to come. Once again, thank you for sharing your talent with the City of Oak Grove.”

“As a military community, the weekend of Memorial Day means so much more than just a day to celebrate. The day itself is there to remember the ones who have fallen in battle to give freedom to us civilians,” added Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of the Oak Grove Tourism Commission. “In the roots of a military community, Memorial Day can be a somber day as there are many people that have lost their family members. Hosting an event to this degree and being able to offer a weekend of entertainment and family fun is our way of showing support to those families. I can’t speak for the entire community when I say this weekend means a lot and shows a lot of support; however, as a member of this community, I can say with the utmost certainty that in 2024, it meant even more seeing the recognition come from Bret Michaels in full support of the military and the gold star members.”

Stated Michaels, “I could not have been more honored to bring a community together to respect and appreciate the fallen and their families and rejoice in the
freedoms their ultimate sacrifice has given us. This is especially meaningful to me considering that I’m the son of a veteran and my uncle Nick was KIA in the Battle of the Bulge in World War 2.”

Michaels is a longtime supporter of our military and veterans, inviting them on stage at his shows to honor the real rock stars.
