Music Icon Bret Michaels Marks Release of New Single “Unbroken” with a $10K Donation to Charity for Grand Prize Winner of his #HotRocks Social Media Challenge
A Rockstar, philanthropist and Type 1 Diabetic, whose legendary music career has made him a global icon, Bret Michaels has never let the challenges he’s faced break him. And fittingly, his new single and video, out now, is called “Unbroken.” The new single, which he co-wrote and recorded with his youngest daughter, Jorja Bleu, is about resilience and overcoming adversity, and as such, the video features an array of courageous people who demonstrate what it truly means to be “Unbroken”— including Iraq War Veteran and “Dancing with the Stars” alum, Noah Galloway.
In the runup to Friday’s release of “Unbroken,” Michaels unleashed the Unbroken #HotRocks Challenge, which combined his love of music with his love of giving back into one epic social media competition. The challenge called on fans from around the world to show off their best #HotRocks dance moves on Instagram– with Michaels awarding one lucky winner a $10,000 donation to the recognized 501(c)3 charity/charities of their choice. That lucky winner, just announced this weekend, is Sarah Payne from Seneca, PA, and her charity is Grady’s Decision.
“I want to thank Bret and his team for providing opportunities like this,” Payne enthused. “To say I’m excited to have been selected as the winner is an understatement and I’m still in shock!”
“We are also of course so thrilled for the charity, Grady’s Decision,” she continued. “Grady’s was started by a friend after experiencing the loss of his son in the NICU and his twin sister surviving 71 days in the NICU. It’s a wonderful charity that provides emotional, spiritual, and
financial help to families experiencing premature births and those with children needing specialized medical care.”
“Thank you so much for this opportunity and for selecting my video!”
The winning video:
Submissions were judged based on dance moves, number of views, humor, editing, and overall creativity of each submission.
As part of her grand prize, Payne will also receive a 2-day VIP rockstar getaway to see Bret live in concert at a show of her choosing. Recently, Michaels kicked off his 2019 “Unbroken” World Tour which will see the singer/songwriter playing shows at a variety of events across the world, including at Graceland Soundstage in Memphis, TN for Military Appreciation Weekend, on March 23, as well as the Stagecoach Country Festival in Indio, CA on April 26th and Stars and Stripes Charity event in Mexico. The music icon will also bring Nothin but a Good Time- For the Last Time to the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Green Bay, Wisconsin on April 6th— the final show at the venue which Michaels has a long-standing history with.
