Legendary musician, entrepreneur and philanthropist Bret Michaels will deliver the keynote address as announced today by Operation Homefront when the organization recognizes and honors the five recipients of the 2014 Military Child of the Year Award. “As a lifelong military supporter it is an absolute honor to deliver the keynote address. Many members of my family have served in the armed forces of this great country and I am proud to join with Operation Homefront in awarding these awesome military children” said Michaels who has recently, along with Operation Homefront and the Feal Good Foundation, surprised a deserving military family with a mortgage free home from the stage at a recent concert. Operation Homefront is a national non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to military families annually gives the award to an outstanding military child from each branch of service – Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

On Sunday March 9, 2014 through Operation Homefront Bret met with injured military members in Operation Homefront Village, a transitional housing facility to assist troops in their return to civilian life


From a pool of nearly 1,000 nominees, each award recipient was chosen by a committee including active-duty and retired military personnel, spouses of senior military leaders, veterans service organization leadership, teachers, and community members. The five awardees will receive $5,000 each and will be flown with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C. for a special recognition gala on April 10, 2014.
