For this week’s edition of Music Wednesday, we’ve asked Pete to talk about one of the songs from the new album, Jammin’ With Friends.

When Bret came to me with the idea of reworking Unskinny Bop, I was excited to get to work because he had said that he wanted to groove to be more reminiscent of Rag Doll from Aerosmith. What a great groove, so I got right to work. We had Bobby Capps of 38 Special add the horn arrangement and it really brought it to life. Then Bret reached out to Frank Hannon of Tesla to add some slide guitar, he came back with not only a killer slide track but also an amazing banjo track. Later Bret invited Robert Mason of Warrant to sing some harmonies. It really rounded out the track. But Bret’s vocal is really what’s special here, the rasp and feel in this track is some of Bret’s best work in my opinion, perfect for the track, by far one of my favs on the new album.
